AS Roma Manager, Jose Mourinho, Left Furious After Europa League Final Defeat
Jose Mourinho, the manager of AS Roma, was seething with anger following his team’s defeat against Sevilla in the Europa League final. The Portuguese coach expressed his dissatisfaction with the officiating of the game, particularly focusing on the decisions made by referee Anthony Taylor.
Roma strongly believed that Erik Lamela should have received a second yellow card for a cynical foul before going on to score in the penalty shootout. Additionally, they felt that a penalty appeal was unjustly dismissed by the officials.
In his frustration, Mourinho took matters into his own hands and went down to the car park of the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary, where the match was held, to directly confront the English referee.
There he could be heard shouting: “It’s a fucking disgrace man, it is a fucking disgrace”
Roma took the lead in the first half before Sevilla came back into the game in the second half before winning the trophy 4-1 on penalties. Jose also expressed his disappointment during his post-match conference about the way the game was been officiated.
