Mauricio Pochettino started his reign as the manager of Chelsea Football Club with a 5-0 win against Wrexham as the Blues kicked off their pre-season tour in the United States.
The former Tottenham and PSG manager needed to make a statement to the fans and his employers as they are looking to rebuild the club following last season’s disappointment.
Ian Maatsen was the unlikely hero of the young team which was put out by Pochettino. He scored a first-half brace with assists from Nicolas Jackson and Carney Chukwuemeka.
Conor Gallagher fired home the third goal while one of Chelsea’s new signings Christopher Nkunku rounded the goalkeeper before finishing fantastically to score the fourth goal. The rout ended with a lovely lob from Ben Chilwell.
