Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea, discussed the steps the team must take to compete with the top clubs in the league.
In an interview featured on Chelsea’s official website, the Argentine manager emphasized the importance of the Blues regaining their key players who are currently sidelined due to injuries in order to compete effectively with the top teams in the Premier League. He has this to say;
First of all, we need to recover all the players, we have many injured players, key players that can’t compete and train with us. And that is so important. You can see how different a club like Manchester City, the effect when there is no Rodri “the brain”, and it is only one player. For us, we are missing many players, key players that can help to develop and improve the team faster. Yes, when we recover all the players, yes for sure, we will be ready to compete with big teams. Even now we need to believe that we can compete with the big teams.
He also has this to say about exciting England youngster, Cole Palmer;
I think the team is doing really well. We don’t concede too many goals and we start to score goals. In the midfield area, they have started to connect and create a good link. Palmer also is a good player that links teammates, and we are giving him a starting position on the right, but after he is free to play in-between the lines because he’s ready to read what the team needs and to be unpredictable.
