Jose Peseiro the head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria has made more foes than friends with his post-match press conference after the draw against Equatorial Guinea. His comment has gotten a lot of Nigerians upset.
The Portuguese gaffer was asked about his thoughts of the game and result. He responded by saying that the result was dependent on God
God gives and God takes, hopefully, God gives us the match.
Nigeria created a lot of chances from the start but conceded on the run of play in the 36th minute when José Machín set up Iban Salvador to put Equatorial Guinea ahead.
The Super Eagles responded immediately when Ademola Lookman’s deflected cross dropped kindly for Victor Osimhen who headed the ball into the net. Nigeria had their chance at the post through Moses Simon but were unable to get any more goals despite intense pressure. The Super Eagles weren’t clinical enough and the biggest culprit was Osimhen who missed a one on one chance.
Jose Peseiro has not won his last 3 competitive games. Games against Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and now Equatorial Guinea. Nigeria goes into the game with a point against AFCON host Ivory Coast, who won their own opener.
What do you make of Peseiro’s comment?
