Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has reportedly agreed to join the Turkish club Galatasaray on loan until the end of the 2024/25 season.
After unsuccessful transfer attempts to Al Ahli and Chelsea, Osimhen has decided to move to Galatasaray. Reports indicate that the Nigerian international will soon undergo a medical with the Turkish side to finalize his departure from Napoli.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his social media accounts on Monday, September 2, 2024, that Osimhen is negotiating a reduction in his buy-out clause, which currently stands at around €75 million, down from the initial €130 million.
It was previously reported that Galatasaray would cover approximately €10 million of his wages during the loan, but they are not obligated to purchase him at the end of the deal. Napoli is expected to extend Osimhen’s contract until 2027 to maintain his market value, although they still plan to sell him in 2025.
Sky Sports Italia also reported that Galatasaray’s decision to seek a new striker was driven by an injury to Mauro Icardi, which could sideline him for an extended period. The club is also considering possibly playing with two strikers once Icardi returns.
