American singer and actress Selena Gomez has revealed her heartbreaking health struggles, disclosing that she is unable to carry her child due to medical issues.
In a candid interview with Vanity Fair, Gomez shared her emotional journey and her challenges in coming to terms with this reality.
“I haven’t ever said this, but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy,” Gomez said. “That was something I had to grieve for a while.”
Initially, Gomez admitted she felt disappointed, noting, “It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it. I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone.” However, she has since accepted her situation and is exploring alternative paths to motherhood.
“I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me,” she added. Despite these challenges, Gomez remains optimistic, stating, “I’m excited for what that journey will look like. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”
In addition to her thoughts on motherhood, Gomez also reflected on her newfound focus on family, sharing,
“Before I met my boyfriend, I was single for five years, with the exception of going on a few dates… I realized that the most important thing to me is family.”
