Rema Reacts To Breaking Wizkid’s Billboard Record With Smashing Hit ‘Calm Down’

0

The evolution and growth of afrobeats can not be undermined as talented singer, and performer Rema broke Wizkid’s solo lead billboard record with the wave of the moment ‘Calm Down.’ Rema took to his social media platform to react to this historical moment with a series of posts on his Instagram story, with one that read ‘History.’

‘Calm Down‘ made its official debut in the top 10 of the billboard hot 100 charts at number 8, which is the highest for any Nigerian artist with a solo lead song, the record Wizkid previously held with his timeless classic, ‘Essence.’

Wizkid and Tems still hold the record for the highest-charting Nigerian artist after both peaked at number one with the collaboration with Drake on ‘One Dance’ for Wiz and the collaboration with Future on ‘Wait For U’ with Tems.

Victony Drops ‘Soweto’ Remix With Rema & Don Toliver | Listen

0

In the past few days, a series of Soweto Remix snippets with artists like Omah Lay, CKay, and Don Toliver surfaced online and we were unsure who Victony was finally going to remix the song with. Fast forward to today, the gifted singer, rapper and songwriter have released the official remix of the infectious banger ‘Soweto‘ featuring American singer, Don Toliver and Afrobeats golden boy, Rema.

The Tempoe-produced joint has thus far been one of the most successful records in Victony’s young catalogue. The original version is housed under the singer’s 2022 extended play ‘Outlaw‘ which is in fact acclaimed by many to be one of the best Afrobeats projects of 2022.

On ‘Soweto‘ remix, Don Toliver and Rema added the needed seasoning to the track. They both delivered their polling units; flowing seamlessly on the mellifluous instrumentation of the track, provided by one of the most talented beatmakers in the Nigerian music industry, the one and only Tempoe.

Are we going to get the version with Omah Lay and CKay? Time will tell.

Bad Bunny sued for $40m by ex-lover over ‘unauthorised’ voice recording

0

Carliz De La Cruz, the ex-lover of Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican rapper, has sued him, claiming a voice recording she provided him before he became famous has been used without her permission.

Cruz argued that she is entitled to $40 million in compensation for “negligence and attack on her privacy and dignity.”

According to BBC, Carliz filed a lawsuit against the rapper, claiming he used the catchphrase “Bad Bunny baby” — which she recorded on her phone in 2015 — in two of his songs without her consent.

The line is said to have appeared on the rapper’s 2017 single ‘Pa Ti’ and his 2022 song ‘Dos Mil 16’.

‘Pa Ti’ has raked in more than 355 million views on YouTube and over 235 million plays on Spotify, while ‘Dos Mil 16’ has over 60 million YouTube views and more than 280 million Spotify plays.

According to the legal documents by Carliz’s lawyers, prior to the release of ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’, Bad Bunny’s recent album, the rapper had offered to buy the rights to the line from his ex-lover for $2,000.

She was said to have declined the offer but the album was, however, released with her line on it. ‘Un Verano Sin Ti’ was then nominated for album of the year at the Grammy Awards.

Carlos also said that her recordings have been used in concerts, adding that it is a “gross negligence, bad faith and, worse still, an attack on her privacy, morals and dignity.”

In the legal documents, Carliz said harassment from supporters of the 29-year-old rapper has made her “overwhelmed and anxious” while she seeks “psychologists for help”.

The duo dated in 2011 and both worked in a supermarket while Bad Bunny also made music by the side.

They, however, parted ways in 2016.

The rapper’s former lover is also suing Rimas Entertainment, his record label, and Noah Assad, Bad Bunny’s manager.

Trouble Looms For Man City As Erling Haaland Suffers An Injury Blow | SEE

0

Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has suffered an unexpected injury that has led to his withdrawal from the Norwegian squad ahead of the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Erling Haaland has been forced to withdraw from the Norwegian squad that would play in the Euro 2024 qualifiers during this international break, and this is a huge concern for the premier league and champions league title chase.

According to reports, Erling Haaland suffered a groin injury which forced him to leave the Norway training camp, and it is, however, uncertain how long the football star will be out for. The injury was confirmed by the head coach of Norway, Ståle Solbakken, in a press conference.

Ståle Solbakken revealed:

Erling took it hard when he realised that he could not fight for the team. Fortunately, there is still plenty of self-confidence, talent and cohesion in this group to win points in the next matches.’

Norway doctor Ola Sand also revealed:

We hoped that this was just an injury that would carry over to Saturday. But after doing tests and examinations yesterday it became clear that he will not make it to the games against Spain and Georgia. It is better that he receives medical follow-up at the club.’

This would be of huge concern to Manchester City as he has been a very integral part of the team. Haaland has netted 42 goals for City in just 37 games and an injury like this raises huge concerns on if City would be able to take on Liverpool following the return of the premier league.
