Chelsea’s rising star, Cole Palmer, has opened up about his dreams of winning the prestigious Ballon d’Or in the future.
The English international, currently making waves in the Premier League, spoke candidly during an interview with The Telegraph, where he acknowledged the hard work required to achieve such a feat.
When asked about the possibility of claiming the Ballon d’Or, Palmer responded,
“It was a surprise to be recognised at that level so early in my career. It’s a huge honour. Winning it would be brilliant, and I believe with hard work and consistency, I could get there.”
The 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony is set to take place on Monday, October 28, starting at 8 p.m. CEST in France (7 p.m. UK time). While Palmer is not yet in contention for the award, his recent performances have sparked speculation about his potential future dominance.
Palmer also discussed the impact of his positional change under coach Enzo Maresca, noting how playing centrally has allowed him to make a bigger impact on games.
“Playing centrally has given me more opportunities to influence the game. I enjoy being involved in the build-up and making key passes, as well as scoring. It suits my style, and I think I can be even more effective there,” Palmer explained.
Since joining Chelsea from Manchester City, Palmer has made a significant mark, including a historic moment in the Premier League by scoring four goals in one half against Brighton. This achievement highlights his immense potential and further cements his role as a key player in Chelsea’s squad.
As he continues to develop, fans and pundits alike are excited to see if Palmer can one day fulfill his dream of winning the Ballon d’Or.
