Chelsea Football Club has finalized a loan deal for Jadon Sancho from Manchester United for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
The deal was completed on the deadline day of the 2024 summer transfer window. Reports indicate that the England international will stay at Stamford Bridge until the end of the current season (2024/25) with an obligation to buy, provided certain conditions are met.
Serie A club Juventus initially showed interest in signing Sancho, but Manchester United was dissatisfied with their offer.
The 24-year-old had a fallout with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag last season, which led to him training separately from the first team after he contradicted Ten Hag’s comments following a game against Arsenal during the 2023/24 season. This disagreement prompted a loan move back to his former club, Borussia Dortmund, in January 2024.
While at Dortmund, Sancho played a key role in the team’s success, including reaching the UEFA Champions League final, where Real Madrid defeated them. Recently, following a meeting between Ten Hag and Sancho, both parties agreed to move past their differences.
Chelsea fans are hopeful that Sancho’s arrival will bolster the squad as they aim to compete for trophies in all competitions.
How much will Chelsea pay for Jadon Sancho?
Chelsea secured Sancho on a loan deal with an obligation to buy if they finish 14th or higher in the league. The purchase price is set at a fixed fee of £20 million, with an additional £5 million in potential add-ons.
