Arsenal Football Club has confirmed that manager Mikel Arteta has agreed to a three-year contract extension, securing his position until 2027. The news was announced on the club’s official website on Thursday, September 12, 2024.
Arteta, who has been instrumental in Arsenal’s resurgence since taking over from Unai Emery in late 2019, expressed his pride and excitement about the extension. He emphasized his deep connection with the club and his desire to continue building on the success they’ve achieved together.
In his statement, Arteta said,
“I am extremely proud, very excited and am looking forward to what is coming next. I’m proud to be where I am and have the relationships that I have with everyone at the club. I feel extremely lucky to work every single day with good people and the ambition we have here. I feel very inspired, I feel challenged, I feel supported, and I want to do much more than what we’ve already done together.”
Since joining Arsenal, Arteta has led the team to notable achievements, including winning the 2020 FA Cup and securing a return to the UEFA Champions League in 2023 after a seven-year absence. Under his leadership, Arsenal has finished second in the Premier League behind Manchester City for two consecutive seasons.
The contract extension comes just days before Arsenal’s North London derby clash with Tottenham Hotspur, with fans hoping this new development will inspire a win after the team recently dropped points against Brighton.
