Philkeyz: I once refused to make beats for Kizz Daniel after he offered me N50k

Date:

In a recent interview, Nigerian producer Philkeyz revealed that he once turned down the opportunity to work with Kizz Daniel because the artist offered him N50,000 as compensation. According to Philkeyz, he declined the offer as his fees at the time exceeded the amount Kizz Daniel had proposed.

The producer recalled that Kizz Daniel approached him for collaboration when he was not yet signed to a record label. Kizz Daniel expressed his interest in working together but mentioned that he could only afford to pay N50,000. However, Philkeyz stated that his charges were higher at that point, especially considering his ongoing work with King Sunny Ade. As a result, he turned down the offer, curious to see if Kizz Daniel would follow up with a better proposition. Unfortunately, Kizz Daniel did not reach out again, and the opportunity passed by.

However, as Kizz Daniel’s fame grew, he approached Philkeyz once more, expressing his desire to collaborate. By this time, the tables had turned, and Kizz Daniel was a prominent artist. Philkeyz recalled that Kizz Daniel contacted him, requesting to work together again.

Philkeyz, whose real name is Philip Chukwuja, gained recognition for producing Omawumi’s hit track “Somori.” Throughout his career, he has collaborated with notable artists such as Yemi Alade, CDQ, and May D. In 2018, Philkeyz signed with Fly Boy Inc, Kizz Daniel’s record label.
