For this edition, the eligibility period for submissions spans from April 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024. Only musical content released within this timeframe will be considered for nomination. The Headies, known for its commitment to recognizing excellence in the Nigerian music industry, is inviting submissions across a wide range of categories, including Next Rated, Rookie of the Year, Recording of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and more.

The Headies Awards were established in 2006 by Hip Hop World Magazine to honor outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry. Over the years, the platform has become both a celebrated and controversial event, often sparking debates around its selection process and winners. Despite this, it remains a significant milestone for Nigerian artists, shining a spotlight on both established stars and emerging talents.

In previous years, the Headies have helped launch the careers of numerous international stars, including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Sean Tizzle, Kizz Daniel, Rema, Mr Eazi, Mayorkun, and many others. The Next Rated category, in particular, is highly anticipated, as it comes with a car gift and has been a springboard for some of Nigeria’s biggest musical talents.

The announcement for the 2024 edition was made on Monday, August 26, 2024, via the Headies’ social media pages. Submissions will be accepted through the official Headies Awards website, with a deadline set for Friday, September 20, 2024.
