The bond between the duo seems to be growing stronger by the day, with a recent link-up in Barbados causing a frenzy online.
Nigerian singing diva Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, is currently in the news after videos of herself and global pop star Rihanna surfaced from a festival in Barbados.
Recall that the two met at a Fenty Beauty show in London some time ago, where they appeared cozy with each other and even had a brief conversation that sparked speculation about a potential future collaboration. In a recent update, videos have surfaced showing both superstars enjoying themselves at the festival in Rihanna’s hometown of Barbados.
Festivals are a rich part of Caribbean culture, and the Crop Over festival is a 3-month-long celebration of Barbadian music, arts, food, and culture. Since its inception in 1974, it has become a yearly event aimed at attracting tourists to the island and keeping local folk culture alive. The festival usually kicks off in June and runs until the first Monday in August, culminating in a grand carnival parade known as Kadooment Day, which is considered the biggest Caribbean carnival.
Ayra Starr, whose branding is visibly influenced by the Rihanna of the early 2000s, continues to position her brand in the right direction with this latest link-up. Dressed elegantly in a Mas costume, Ayra, whose sophomore album ‘The Year I Turned 21’ is still buzzing, seemed to be having a great time with the Grammy-winning music and beauty icon at the festival.
