Highlights From Burna Boy’s Electrifying Coachella 2023 Performance

0

Talented Nigerian singer-songwriter Burna Boy took his global sound and Grammy award-winning music to the Coachella stage last weekend.

The “Ye” crooner first graced the Coachella stage in 2019 and since that last performance he has gone on to drop his globally successful “Twice As Tall” and “Love, Damini” albums.

Backed by a full band, Burna Boy performed songs from his repertoire of hits. He opened with “Science”, a song from “Love, Damini” and then powered through songs from his “African Giant” album released in 2019. The fans were also able to enjoy his performances of “Ye” “Last Last”, “Anybody” and in trademark Burna Boy style, the fans were fully involved and singing their hearts out to the chorus of these songs.

Burna Boy’s stage presence, energetic performance, harmony with his band and impeccable connection with the crowd were all on display.

A masterful performance from an artiste that’s become a master of his craft.

Declan Rice wants to visit Nigeria to perform with me, says Odumodublvck

0

Odumodublvck, the rapper, says Declan Rice, the UK footballer, wants to visit Nigeria and perform on stage with him.

Last month, the singer released a hit track titled ‘Declan Rice’ in honour of the English footballer.

In a recent interview on Afrobeats Podcast, Odumodublvck said he and Declan Rice are now friends.

He also said West Ham United, the footballer’s club, also invited him to “meet with other players and watch a match.”

“I made a video vibing to the song. I posted it and Declan Rice was like jeez the song is fire. Now we’re friends,” he said.

“He [Declan Rice] is texting me that he has to come to Nigeria even if it’s only for two days. He said the next time I’m performing he has to be on stage with me.

“I’m like this has to be God. I cannot take credit for any of this, it was all God. So that was how I linked up with Declan.

One day at 3 am in the morning he sent me a video also vibing to the song. The kind of video you send to people on Instagram that can only be played once.

“I screen-recorded the video and posted it in the morning. Right now the video has so many views. It just makes the song have a more cultural impact because now the player himself has been associated with it.

“The club [West Ham United] also messaged me that they need me to come over to the club. They said I should come to the training ground to meet all the players, I should come to the stadium to watch a match. I just thank God. Gratitude.”

Rema made first million at 17, gave it all to his mom

0

Rema, whose real name is Divine Ikubor, rose to fame in 2019 with his hit song “Iron Man” and has since gained a huge following in Nigeria and beyond. In the interview with Z100 New York, he spoke about his humble beginnings and how he had to work hard to support his family.

According to him, he wanted to get a car with the money, but his mother needed the money more, and it was not cool for him to be 17 and drive around in a car when his mother did not have a car of her own.

He said,

The person who I knew needed it more was my mom. So, I handed everything I made to her. I know it was cool to drive around the city as a 17-year-old in a cool whip. But I can’t drive a cool whip when my mom doesn’t have a car or when my mom has to borrow my keys. You know, I had to put her on first.”

“Passing all of that to her, whatever investment she makes… I made my first million [Naira] at 17, but I made more than a million. But it’s cool to be at that stage and be able to provide for your family.”

He also added that being able to support his family and create possibilities for others is his greatest accomplishment.

“Someone created an opportunity for me to bless the world this much. So I can’t imagine how much the people I helped are going to bless the world. You know, I go hard not just for myself. I go hard for them. As long as doors open for me, I want to open doors for them,” he added.

Despite his success, Rema remains grounded and focused on his music. He has released several hit songs over the past few years, including ‘Calm Down,’ ‘Holiday,’ and ‘Bounce,’ and has collaborated with top artists.

With his talent, hard work, and dedication, Rema is undoubtedly one of the best artists in Nigeria today.

Spyro Is Our Guy – Man Crush Monday

1

Spyro is the answer to the question in the next sentence. Who’s your guy? This guy isn’t just talented, he is well behaved and has stuck to his morals in this corrupting music industry. Spyro is the guy, the guy who has come to bring us so much joy.

Spyro

Through storms and drought, a name that’ll eventually be an escape to all the ills of life. Music is like a hospital where we all get a bit of treatment either from stress or even boredom. Spyro is like the department of joy in this music hospital, his music like medication chasing out sadness and replacing every negative emotion with joy.

He is here to stay, he is for the now and the “better” for the future. Like the lace, he’s got you like you’re a shoe that’s a bit big; he’ll keep you fitted.

For the blessings of joy and vibes he brings, he just has to be very successful in future.

Spyro is also known as Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, he was born in Nigeria on October 1, 1997. The vocalist attended the University of Ibadan. From all indications, Spyro is going places and will surely take his place amongst the brightest stars. Spyro is our Man Crush this week.

The second hoop of the day took place between Boston Celtics and Atalanta Hawks, where Jaylen Brown, Jason Tatum, and Derrick White, were decisive in clutch situations. In the third match of the day, New York Knicks defeated Cleveland Cavaliers in an entertaining game.

The final match of the day was between the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors, where the Kings got the better of the Warriors by a small margin.

Premier League Match Week 31 Predictions

0

The Premier league enters match week 31 and things are taking shape in the table. Some shocks, some amazing teams, some not so great and some clueless teams. Here’s my prediction for the week

Saturday 15th April 2023

12:30 Aston Villa  Newcastle

Newcastle has been one of the better teams in the league this season. Great defensively, they also possess some very interesting players in their ranks. Villa hasn’t done badly either, beating Chelsea a couple of weeks ago (I know most teams can beat Chelsea right now). They can be a really tough side to face as Unai Emery always sets his side to be compact and fearless when attacking.

Villa 0: Newcastle 1

15:00 Chelsea Vs Brighton

The Seagulls are playing really fantastic football at the moment with the likes of Mitoma. Brighton are fearless when they play, they create chances and they have some fine players. Chelsea on the other hand are short of ideas and the London side are struggling to score goals, scoring just 29 goals in 30 league games but I see them scoring  today.

Chelsea 2 Brighton 2

15:00 Everton Vs Fulham

Everton has been in and out of the relegation zone fighting for their survival and this week they play against a Fulham side who aren’t doing badly themselves but will be without star player Mitrovic, who is still suspended. Everton will be home and the 12th man might just see them through the line.

Everton 1 Fulham 0

15:00 Southampton Vs Crystal Palace

The saints have been toothless this season and they are rock bottom in the league table, they are one of the teams pundits think will go down. I think they’ll put up a fight today but playing against Crystal Palace who are still high from the new manager bounce might just complicate things.

Southampton 1 Crystal Palace 1

15:00 Tottenham Vs Bournemouth

Spurs will look to win against the Cherries to make a push for champions league places. With the quality in the Tottenham side, I see them winning this one convincingly.

Tottenham 3 Bournemouth 0

15:00 Wolves Vs Brentford

Wolves has been struggling all of this season and facing a good side like Brentford will only continue their struggles.

Wolves 1 Brentford 2

17:30 Man City Vs  Leicester

Manchester City are coming from a confidence boosting win over German Champions, Bayern Munich. The City side will look to compound the woes of Leicester who appointed a new interim manager in Dean Smith. The Foxes will fight hard but it won’t be enough.

Man City 3 Leicester 1

   Sunday 16th April 2023

14:00 West Ham  Arsenal

The Gunners will look to continue their premier league charge when they take on West Ham in the London stadium. Although it’s a London derby, Arsenal will take the day as West Ham have been poor this season.

West Ham 0 Arsenal 2

16:30  Forest Vs Man Utd

Forest are a tough side to beat at home and with United missing out some key players like Rashford and Martinez, Nottingham Forest have a chance.

Forest 1 United 0

Monday 17th April, 2023

20:00 Leeds Vs Liverpool

Liverpool has been a shadow of themselves this season, playing like a team that was just put together in a couple of weeks. Leeds united are battling relegation, fighting really hard to avoid the drop. Liverpool will just edge this one

Leeds 1 Liverpool 2

DJ Big N Enlist Ayra Starr & Oxlade on Sizzling Track ‘How Many Times’ | LISTEN

0

The Mavin Records camp is on fire at the moment. Having established itself as a leading force in the Nigerian music industry, and its artists making waves in Nigeria and beyond, the label continues to prove why they’re the biggest in the Nigerian music space.

The label has recorded multiple first/second quarter releases from its artists in 2023. The likes of Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Boy Spyce, Johnny Drille, and Magix have churned out at least a single this year. Today, the label’s official disk jockey, DJ Big N joins the rooster, he has released a new single entitled ‘How Many Times’ where he collaborated with his label mate, Ayra Starr alongside super gifted vocalist, Oxlade.

DJ Big N who joined Mavin Records as their official disc jockey in 2015 has since become a prominent figure in the Nigerian music industry and has worked with several top artists, including Tiwa Savage, Rema, Dr Sid, Wande Coal, and Don Jazzy, amongst many others. Ayra Starr and Oxlade are the latest acts to join the aforementioned list.

How Many Times‘ features a catchy beat and an infectious melody, with global hit maker – Andre Vibez’s production skills on full display. Ayra Starr and Oxlade’s soulful vocals add an extra layer of emotion to the song, making it a powerful and memorable track.

Lyrically, ‘How Many Times‘ is a love song that explores the ups and downs of a romantic relationship. The lyrics express the feelings of someone who is reassuring his love interest about the position she holds in his life, while Andre Vibez’s production creates a laid-back and soothing vibe that perfectly captures the song’s message.

How Many Times‘ is DJ Big N’s first official single in roughly two years, it serves as a follow-up to his 2021 track ‘Aje‘ which features Remmy Crown.

Listen to How Many Times here.
