Libianca’s ‘People’ becomes highest charting African song in UK Chart history

Libianca‘s ‘People’ has made history as it becomes the highest charting African song on the UK Official Single chart.

Cameroonian-American single Libianca broke into the mainstream with her single ‘People’ which talks about the sadness and loneliness of an increasingly difficult and individualistic society.

Since its release, ‘People’ has grown in popularity internationally and also in Nigeria. The song has now reached a new peak of NO. 2 in the latest installment of the UK Singles Chart (April 14 – 20, 2023).

This sees it become the highest charting African song in the chart’s history as it surpasses the previous peak record of NO. 3 held by CKay’s ‘Love Nwantiti’.

This week, Rema‘s ‘Calm Down’ remix feat Selena Gomez moves up one spot back to its NO. 4 peak position. Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’ drops 3 places to NO. 27 as it extends its run on the chart to 12 weeks.

Davido‘s ‘Unavailable’ featuring Musa Keys drops to NO. 70 after debuting at NO. 6O last week.

Asake‘s ‘2:30’ debuts at NO. 2, Victony‘s ‘Soweto’ remix moves up to NO. 3, Davido‘s ‘No Competition’ drops to NO. 4, while Spyro‘s ‘Who’s Your Guy?’ moves up to NO. 5.

Adekunle Gold‘s ‘Party No Dey Stop’ feat Zinoleesky drops to NO. 6, Tiwa Savage‘s ‘Stamina’ drops to NO. 7, Darkoo‘s ‘Disturbing U’ feat Ayra Starr debuts at NO. 8, Rema‘s ‘Holiday’ drops to NO. 9, while BNXN‘s ‘Gwagwalada’ drops to NO. 10.
