Harry Potter TV series adaptation has been ordered at HBO Max for the first time ever with an entirely new cast.
Based on all seven books in the series published between 1997 and 2007, the live-action series will become a “decade-long series produced with the same epic craft, love and care this global franchise is known for”.
David Zaslav, the Warner Bros. Discovery CEO, announced the development on Wednesday during a presentation that revealed how HBO Max and Discovery+ would be integrated.
“Max’s commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me, and I am looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long-form television series,” he said.
Casey Bloys, the chairman of HBO & Max Content, said the new project is an opportunity to discover Hogwarts and the setting of the story in a new way.
