Headies Awards open entries for 2024 edition; call for submissions

The popular Nigerian awards show, the Headies, is set to host its 17th edition, and entries have officially opened.

Organizers have announced the call for submissions for the 2024 Headies Awards, which will mark the event’s 17th consecutive year. The Headies, known for being a prominent and sometimes controversial platform in the Nigerian music industry, is inviting eligible artists, producers, video directors, and other music professionals to submit their works for consideration. The submission period for this edition covers the year in review from April 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024, meaning that only musical content released within this timeframe will be eligible for nominations.

Established in 2006 by Hip Hop World Magazine, the Headies Awards aims to recognize and honor outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry across various genres and categories. It celebrates both established and emerging artists, helping to shine a spotlight on diverse talents within the industry.

As with previous editions, the call for entries spans multiple categories, including the coveted Next Rated award (which includes a car gift), Rookie of the Year, Recording of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and more. The announcement was made on Monday, August 26, 2024, via the Headies’ social media pages. Submissions are to be made through the official Headies Awards website, with the deadline set for Friday, September 20, 2024.

Over the years, the Headies Awards have played a significant role in the careers of many Nigerian international stars, such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Sean Tizzle, Kizz Daniel, Rema, Mr. Eazi, Mayorkun, and many others.
